    HQ's Calcium carbide look and works exactly as it should. The can is sturdy and air / watertight. The price is good and shipping rapid. I have zero problems using HQ's product. It works in my new Miner's Lamp and my antique Miner's Lamps. We use these as emergency lighting when the power goes off. No Batteries, no charging, Put the Carbide in the container, turn on the water drip, light the lamp. The last can of Carbide lasted YEARS and was fresh and ready to go every time. This is a VERY GOOD Company with an EXCELLENT product.

    I give a five star rating, based on not having to pay shipping, nor having to pay "hazmat" fees which for calcium carbide can be extremely expensive. I will buy more from HQ company provided that the current deal holds.

    Purchased to power an old sight blackening torch. The old torch did it's thing, after 35 years laying at the bottom of an old pistol box. Good quality crystals.

    I purchased this for my daughter. For a science experiment. (Exploding pumpkins) when I ordered the product I wasn’t sure if it would come in time or not.. but it came much faster! Product is perfect!!

    I hadn't realized that carbide could be shipped ground now without an exorbitant charge. I snatched some up to resurrect my old lamps. Just be warned, this is a 1 pound tin, so it will seem small if you are used to 2 pound tins.

    I have a small collection of carbide lights and had never found a reasonable supply of carbide so I could use them.. This fit the bill perfectly. When I finish I can inert the can with nitrogen or argon. Thanks for an excellent product and hopefully I will be purchasing more later. The light is much more intense than expected.
